Samsung Galaxy S3

iPhone 5. Is it worth it?
Recently Apple have had to publish an official apology to Samsung stating that they did not in face infringe copyright law over their iPad 2. Are they just trying to divert attention to what is really occurring?

This looks like the pornography.

Hello everyone!

Apologies for the lack of posting… we here at the AMP Soc have been out and about doing all sorts of things since term finished. I’ve been traveling throughout the USA and have been amused by the variety and abundance of TV ads this nation is graced by. If you’ve never watched TV in the States you’re in for a bittersweet treat. Imagine watching an episode of Friends with 6 ad-breaks shoved in- annoying, right? Well that’s how it is here. You have advertising practically shoved down your throat, so I wasn’t surprised when I saw some ads that go the distance to get your attention. In particular this one for a feta cheese has been quite controversial, nonetheless whimsical.

Enjoy!

Want to gain valuable work experience at an agency that promises to deliver unrivalled training by working with top-end clients in real-time? Then selecting the Search Programme as your preferred choice of Ad School could be the perfect fit for you.

If you’re an ad grad eager to find a way into the industry, understanding it is the first step into becoming a valuable asset to any brand campaign or agency. It’s a fundamental aspect of your digital education which will broaden your horizons for years to come.

What is Search?
In basic terms, Search marketing is a form of online advertising in a digital space that enables brands to increase their presence on search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo! to attract more customers to their website. Search is often the central element of all digital marketing campaigns. Agencies use sophisticated strategies, cutting-edge technology and their expertise to increase online visibility on search engine results pages for clients, using both Paid Search and Natural Search.

Why Search?
The success of online businesses depends on being distincitve and unique in a crowded market, which makes Search one of the few tools to make a real difference to a business. Search gives instant results which are passed directly onto a client, and is at the cutting-edge of web visibility as it streamlines all online marketing operations.

Search offers amazing opportunities and creates an opening into the intergrated digital environment to which all above the line advertising is supported by in today’s evolving ad-land.

If you don’t have Search, you don’t have a strategy – Make sure you’re not left behind!

The nitty gritty…

  • You will be provided with an agency mentor who will guide you through your 8 week experience

The Three Little Pigs

Old newspaper journalism has ceased to be of existence, yet The Guardian’s new campaign shows us why the paper is still relevant. BBH’s clever creative team devised this fantastic ad, showing the paper as modern and up-to date by embracing new media and new forms of communication.

Would you like some Lady Gaga with your skinny mocha-frappuccino?

If you’re having trouble understanding what Lady Gaga and Starbucks have to do with one another then you may be in for a bit of a loop when I explain that the two teamed up for a digital scavenger hunt where participants could win prizes offered from Polaroid. Yup. Even the Shazam app got involved.

It’s quirky use of digital media but by no means unique – brands are discovering the power of gamification in the digital world and are getting greater interaction with their target audience with this strategy (case in point: during the three week Gaga/Starbucks scavenger hunt, they both received over 300 thousand hits and 23 thousand game registrations. With each clue taking an average of 21 minutes to crack, that’s a lot of exposure! Not to mention the press and media coverage).

You can read more about this innovative strategy on Neoco’s blogpost: Social Media Marketing Trend: Scavenger Hunts

Hungry for more? Well luckily for you, Matt Roberts of Neoco will actually be speaking on Gamification in the Social Space at AMP’s How to Survive in a Digital World  event on March 6th. This is a great opportunity to learn more about a cutting edge (and FUN) marketing technique from an expert (and better still, it’s free!).

Artificial Intelligence – sounds like Science Fiction? Not anymore…

We all know what A.I. is right? It’s that old movie with Haely Joel Osment as a robot with a heart and Jude Law as a robot stripper (fun times). Well you’re wrong – as in the movie A.I. does indeed stand for Artificial Intelligence, but what Weavrs are doing with A.I. will absolutely blow your mind:

By creating Weavrs you can design the personas that you want to follow online. Using public data as their navigation, Weavrs publicly blog about how they feel, where they go and what they experience.

Weavrs may be of use to you if you want to simulate the experience of being somewhere or trying out story characters. Weavrs can be designed as anything you wish to imagine. You can also create as many as you wish.

Throughout the day, your Weavrs will blog media from various web services such as videos from Youtube, inspiration from Twitter, music from Last.fm and venues from Google Places. At night they go to sleep.

Does that sound amazing and awesome and also slightly scary all at the same time? Come down to the AMP Conference next Tuesday to hear direct from the Weavrs themselves about how A.I. is pushing the digital frontier and how you can get in on the action!
